4 Healthy relationships are a vital part of your life. A healthy relationship means that you feel safe and have trust with others. This includes family, friends, and your community. How you stay connected with your family, friends, and community is important for keeping and promoting a healthy relationship. Social wellness includes all of this. It is building healthy relationships through trust and open and honest communication. How you can work on your social wellness Social wellness is different for everyone. People have their own culture, beliefs, and experiences that shape their lives. Sharing your values is a great way to connect with others. Talk about your values and be an active listener when others tell you about theirs. You may also apply your values to your relationships or community. Look for times you can open up and share with the people you trust. Wellness, your healthcare team, and you It’s also important to stay connected with your healthcare team. You can speak with your healthcare team about your social wellness. Ask questions about your health and any problems you may have. The more your healthcare team knows about your concerns, the better they can support you. Health education tools Presbyterian has health education tools on myPRES. You can access the health education tools by logging in to your myPRES account at www.phs.org/mypres and clicking on “Wellness.” From the “Wellness” page, you will select “Health Education Tools.” From “Health Education Tools,” search for “How You Can Help Older Adults Stay Connected” or “Social Connections.” You can watch videos or read the articles. Social wellness is vital for your well-being. It can improve your mood and give you a sense of pride. Building healthy relationships can take a lot of work and time. Make a plan to see others and take time for yourself as well. Do things that make you happy and share them with others. They may find them enjoyable as well.
